At the breakfast table, my son reads out some recent news from his Iphone – “Just eight individuals, all men, own as much wealth as the poorest half of the world’s population, Oxfam said on Monday in a report…”Oh really? who are they? I ask goggle eyed unable to suppress my curiosity.”The eight individuals named in the report are Gates, Inditex founder Amancio Ortega, veteran investor Warren Buffett, Mexico’s Carlos Slim, Amazon boss Jeff Bezos, Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle’s Larry Ellison and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.” he continues to read.Astonishment apart this piece of news really set me thinking, entering into the age old debate (with my own inner self) on how much money is enough. There is always a constant tug of war between our needs and wants. People often console themselves by saying that love is the utmost important factor in life and money ranks a poor fourth or fifth place maybe, if we were to do some rankings. The Billy Graham quote we held as a gospel truth since childhood begins to rhyme in my head,When wealth is lost, nothing is lost; when health is lost, something is lost; when character is lost, all is lost.How true! But the desire to earn or possess more money is omnipresent for many of us poor mortals, isn’t it? And I’m not even talking about people below poverty line here. I’m thinking about ordinary middle/upper middle class folks. we always keep wishing for a better house, a better car, a raised social stature, all of which come at a price; that of being a rich person. But is having loads of money the real meaning of being rich? I get an answer from author Mitch Albom’s book Tuesdays with Morrie. “You don’t need the latest sports car, you don’t need the biggest house….. You know what really gives you satisfaction?What?Your time. Your concern.”

I received a most amazing New Year gift on the last day of year 2015. Guess what? A surprise nomination for an award by dear @mescalime (Psychochromatic Inception). The best part was that she very graciously permitted me to choose between 3 different awards she had received herself, namely : Sunshine Blogger Award, Liebster Award and The Word Magician Award. I have accepted the Sunshine Blogger Award as I can identify with it. I truly believe that a blog should be inspirational and spread some joy!
As per the ‘general rules’ of awards, I shall nominate 7 more bloggers for this award whose posts I enjoy reading. Mind you this is a tough task as each and every blog is fabulous in its own way.

Many thanks to the whole blogging community and wish you all a very happy and fulfilling new year 2016!
Real beauty lies in kindness and courteousness,
Love blossoms among equals,
Equal not in terms of money or power
But equal in terms of mutual respect;
So that, there is absolutely no room for regret.
Being grateful to those you love,
And people you meet through the day
Paves the way,
To fill the heart with joy.
Today’s post is simple but it means a lot to me.I wrote my first blog post on 18th July, 2014. I set myself the first landmark of achieving 1000 views. On 13th November 2014, I proudly state that this task has been accomplished with 1008 total views that day and still counting! At the time of posting this article its 1058 views.
Its been an amazing journey so far with immense growth in my own capabilities as a writer and blogger. This may be a relatively small achievement for some perhaps, but for ‘riturang’,its time to celebrate! For this I have to thank the wordpress team for the tremendous support offered by hosting events such as blogging 101 , writing 201,etc which push you to learn more and try and excel in putting across and sharing one’s stories ,thoughts and ideas to whole world.These events are highly recommended;.the latest one to add to the list in which yours truly is participating is Nablopomo.
I also take this opportunity to thank members of the blogging community for stopping by my blog and taking out precious time to read my posts,your likes and your comments. Support given by family members, friends, relatives ,facebook is also highly appreciated.Ah well ,it seems like i’m getting carried away and giving an award winning thanksgiving speech or something! Well the idea is that an encouraging response simply helps in pushing the envelope further.Each day presents new stories and new challenges.Stay tuned for more, as I prepare to write a post about another milestone crossed!
